WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING
"We took our dog Diesel to Courteous Canine for basic manners class. We absolutely loved Kim and she is so knowledgeable. She made classes so much fun for the dogs and for us. We all learned a lot, and Diesel graduated with ease. We continued our training with Kim in private lessons to help curb Diesel’s bad habits. Kim has great lesson plans, and offers a lot of help in private lessons for an affordable price. We would definitely recommend Courteous Canine to anyone who is interested in training their dog!"

"So proud of how far Champ has come with all of his amazing classes that he has taken. We could not have done it without Kim. She goes above and beyond to help all of her clients succeed at their task. I will highly recommend her to everyone that is not only looking for a little guidance, but also anyone looking to enrich their dogs life. We have enjoyed numerous classes with Courteous Canine and will continue to do so."

"When I first got my puppy, I had a lot of training goals for her and knew that I wanted to go about achieving them in an entirely force-free, positive way but wasn’t sure how exactly to go about it. I was delighted to find Courteous Canine and to be able to benefit from the behavioural science based training rather than slapping some sort of gimmick on my dog to force her to behave. It has been such a wonderful experience to watch my puppy grow into a confident, happy dog who loves to train and learn new things, and especially to see how she has learned to think for herself and figure things out and offer behaviours – all of which has come about as we have progressed through Kim’s excellent training program. I couldn’t recommend Courteous Canine more highly, whether you have competition goals for your dog or just want a well-trained family pet."

"Kim is a brilliant and well-educated trainer, and very knowledgeable about dog behaviour. She is kind and patient with both people and dogs. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing trainer to help me and my dogs!"
When our Golden Retriever, Beatrice, was 10 weeks old, we contacted Kim to enroll her in some training classes including obedience and rally. Beatrice really responded well to Kim’s energy (and so did my husband and I!). Kim was just as focused on ‘training’ us as she was on making sure we had a well-behaved pup. She gave us the tools to be the best dog parents we could be. To us, it was important to have a strong relationship with our fur baby from the start and I know we couldn’t have done it without Kim.
After group classes, we had Kim come to our home to do one on one leash training with Beatrice. Since we knew we were going to have a large and strong adult dog on our hands, and having respectful leash behaviour is important to us. This one on one time with Kim was invaluable and we are BEYOND happy with the results.
In addition to her training services, Kim also boards Beatrice for us when we go on vacation. We call it “summer camp” for the dog. She is always welcomed with open arms, access to the sofa (which she LOVES!), fenced in back yard, all the toys, and puppy/human companionship 24/7. We usually miss Beatrice more than she misses us, but we know we can check in on her anytime. Kim posts photo updates regularly and is always so quick to respond to any question we throw her way. It’s nice to know that Beatrice is loved so much even when we aren’t around.
Beatrice is now nearly 3 years old. We endlessly get complimented on how well our dog listens and we know that this amazing relationship we have with Beatrice is because of Kim educating all of us. We can’t say enough about how grateful we are to have Kim in our lives – we can’t imagine raising our little pup on this beautiful island without her.

"When we first got our dog Riley (lab/poodle mix) we were excited to be first time puppy owners but the excitement soon wore off as Riley was a much bigger handful than we first expected. We started working with Kim when Riley was about 6 months old and started out by attending puppy class with the hopes of working through some tough issues. It turned out that puppy class was too much for Riley as he was extremely anxious, very mouthy and over stimulated.
Kim quickly realized that the class environment wasn’t what Riley needed and we agreed to rejoin class at a later date and do in home training. Kim’s approach of using positive reinforcement was exactly what we needed as owners and as well for Riley. We as owners had to modify our behaviour (and those of our house guests) and set up situations where Riley could be successful.
We continued working with Kim and Riley got to experience a number of different class offerings which all helped to keep him busy and learning and while he still exhibits moments of stress and anxiety he has come a long way. When we considered getting a second dog we consulted Kim on what breed would be a successful match for Riley and we got our second dog Zoey (wheaten terrier) who started working with Kim right away. Both Riley and Zoey are very fond of Kim and love going for doggy vacations and visits. We couldn’t be happier to have found such a great trainer whose positive approach has had such a big impact on us and our dogs."
